SCREENVISION STRENGTHENS SOUTHERN FOOTPRINT THROUGH NEW AGREEMENT WITH TEXAS’ SANTIKOS THEATRES

New York, N.Y., December 17, 2012 – Screenvision, a national leader in cinema advertising sales, services and content distribution, has signed a new agreement with one of the Southern U.S.’s most modern and luxurious exhibitors, San Antonio-based Santikos Theatres. The announcement was made here today by Darryl Schaffer, Executive Vice President, Operations and Exhibitor Relations for Screenvision.
A high-quality circuit offering digital projection and sound, IMAX and often in-theatre bars and restaurants, Santikos currently operates eight theatres with 114 screens, providing one of the highest screen counts per theatre in the industry. Seven of the theatres are located in the San Antonio DMA (#36) along with a 19-plex in the Houston DMA (#10). In March 2013, Santikos is slated to add a new 22-screen cineplex, The Palladium 22, to its circuit in Houston.

Under the new agreement, Screenvision has exclusive on-screen advertising selling rights as well as non-exclusive selling rights of promotions.

“Santikos is a great addition to our digital preshow network, strengthening our footprint in the Southern region,” said Darryl Schaffer, Executive Vice President, Operations and Exhibitor Relations, Screenvision. “With its attention to creating state-of-the-art presentation and first class amenities, Santikos is a well-attended chain attracting the kind of consumers our advertisers desire to reach.”

“Santikos Theatres is excited to continue our on screen advertising partnership with Screenvision. They have demonstrated a strong commitment to the growth and success of our company. We are confident in their ability to deliver strong revenue and entertaining content while complementing our commitment to bringing our guests the newest technology, first class amenities and our distinctive brand of guest service.”

In addition to expanding the Santikos partnership, Screenvision recently added 207 screens with Muller Family Theatres in the Minneapolis DMA, Phoenix Theatres in the Detroit DMA and CineMagic Theatres in the Northeast, including the Boston DMA, all of which will exhibit Screenvision’s full digital preshow.

ABOUT SANTIKOS THEATERS: Greek entrepreneur Louis Santikos could not have known that when he founded a movie theatre in San Antonio in 1911, he was launching an entertainment legacy in Texas. More than 100 years later, the Santikos name is synonymous with the movie industry. From humble beginnings, to the celebrated opening of its elegant Palladium IMAX Theatre built in honor of the family’s Greek heritage, the Santikos family has earned a reputation as pioneers in the motion picture industry. Following in his father’s footsteps, John Santikos joined the family movie business after graduating from St. Mary’s University. Today, the Santikos Theatre circuit includes eight theatres: The Palladium IMAX, The Silverado San Antonio, The Mayan Palace, The Embassy, The Rialto Brewhaus, The Bijou Cinema Bistro, The Northwest, all in San Antonio, and The Silverado IMAX in Northwest Houston. The Palladium 22 is coming soon to Fort Bend County in Houston.
